Keeping up with the change in season can be a real challenge especially for kids and adults who can be prone to hay fever. This recipe for saffron and date milk is a healthy variation to the regular milk that kids drink. Dates and saffron can help fight cold and flu.

As dates are naturally high in sugar content and iron, you can avoid adding unnecessary sugar making it a healthy energy boosting drink for the whole family.

Preparation Time: 5 minutes
Cooking Time: 10-15 minutes
Makes: 4 servings

Ingredients
1/2 cup pitted and chopped dry dates
1 tsp of saffron strand
1/2 tsp of cardamom powder
4 cups skimmed milk
1 cup water

Method
Boil the dates in one cup of water for 5 minutes to soften them.
Add the milk, saffron and cardamom powder.
Boil for another 10-15 minutes.

Serve warm

Note- You can also make a date smoothie and serve cold.
