Pumpkin Pastie

Any fan of Harry Potter will love the chance to try some wizard food. Pumpkin Pasties were a popular treat at Hogwarts, and probably loved as much as the Cornish Pasty is by muggles. You can buy pre-prepared pumpkin, or if you get a whole pumpkin you can also use the seeds.

Preparation Time: 35 minutes
Cooking Time: 20 minutes
Makes: 1 serving

Ingredients



pumpkin


120g pumpkin
1/4 tsp tumeric
1/4 tsp ground mace
1/2 tsp ground parsley
100g flour
50g margarine
3 tbsp water
1 tsp pumpkin seeds (optional)

Method

Rub the flour and margarine together to create a breadcrumb like effect. This can be done by hand or in a food processor.



Add the water to form a dough, then wrap in cling film and leave to chill in the fridge.



If buying a whole pumpkin, carve a hole at the top and remove all the pulp and seeds.
Chop up the required about of pumpkin, slicing off the skin section.



Heat the pumpkin at a low heat in a saucepan until soft and mushy.



Add the herbs and spices (and seeds if using) until fully incorporated.
Take off the heat and allow to cool.
Pre-heat the oven to 180 ༠C/ 160 ༠C fan/350 ༠F/4 Gas.



Take the pastry dough out of the fridge and roll out.



Spread the pumpkin filling on top.



Fold the pastry over the filling, then bake in the oven.
