There's nothing better than a perfect poached egg for dinner; less fiddly to eat than a boiled egg and healthier than a fried egg. Once you get the hang of poaching you'll find it even easier than scrambling. Little kids can eat a poached egg easily with a spoon or just use their hands without too much mess.
The secret the perfect poached egg is adding white vinegar to the water and using a deep slotted spoon.
Cooking Time: Less than 10 minutes
Makes: 1 serving
Ingredients
Method
Bring a pan of water to the boil.
Add a teaspoon of white vinegar.

Ready for the egg
Stir the water in a circle rapidly to create a whirl. Crack the egg into the middle of the whirl.
Turn the heat down low to a very gentle simmer.

Start the timer
Leave the egg for 4 minutes. This will give an egg yolk which is soft but not very runny. Leave in the water for less time if you want the yolk runnier or longer if you want a hard yolk.
Lift the egg with a deep slotted spoon and give a gently shake to get rid of any excess water.
