Ingredients 100g dark chocolate
60g unsalted butter
65g caster sugar
1 egg, lightly beaten
110g cup plain flour
15g cocoa powder
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp baking soda
60g milk chocolate Nestle KIT KAT
Preheat the oven to 160 degrees C and line a slice baking tin.
Place the butter and chocolate pieces into a microwave safe bowl. Melt, stirring every 30 seconds, in the microwave until combined.
Add the sugar and egg and whisk to combine.
Sift together the plain flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and baking soda. Add these to the chocolate mixture and stir well to combine.
Roughly chop the KitKats into smaller pieces.
Pour half of the chocolate mixture into the slice tin. Sprinkle a layer of KitKat pieces over the top, then pour the rest of the brownie mixture over the top.
Bake for 10-15 minutes, until cooked when tested with a skewer.
Allow to cool on a wire rack.
Lift the brownie from the slice tin. Slice the brownie into smaller squares and serve.
For additional flavour, roughly chop a white chocolate KitKat and add these pieces to the brownie centre as well, or use the brownie mix to create 3 layers with milk chocolate KitKat between the bottom 2 and white chocolate KitKat between the top 2.
