A delicious, creamy smoothie packed with banana and honey goodness. Honey and banana smoothies are great at any time of year, but are best on a sunny spring or autumn day when it it not too hot or too cold. This smoothie can also be made with soy and other kinds of milk varieties, making it pretty flexible. Banana, honey and yoghurt pack this smoothie full of healthy energy to energise ravenous young ones without having to revert to processed sugary treats!
Preparation Time: 15 minutes
Makes: 2-3 servings
Ingredients 1 banana
1 tablespoon of honey
1 cup of milk (any kind, including soy varieties)
1 tablespoon of vanilla yoghurt
1 cup of crushed ice
I have an older blender at home so, to save it the effort of cutting through ice blocks on its own, I put ice cubes into a snap lock bag and crush them with a kitchen mallet or rolling pin.
Pour the crushed ice into a blender.
Add the honey, milk and vanilla yoghurt.
Chop the banana into smaller pieces and pop these into the blender.
Blitz everything together in the blender. (You can also do this in a jug with a hand held stick blender). I recommend doing a quick blitz before switching to a prolonged blend, so that if, perhaps, the lid happens to be loose, you can quickly avert disaster!
When the ingredients have combined, let the smoothie settle for a minute then pour it into glasses to serve.
Serve the smoothies right away, or store in a jug in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours.
