I call this juice a green giant juice because it makes my nephew want to drink it, and it makes me feel a bit better about it when I omit the fruit.
Initially, I was wary of presenting my niece and nephew with this drink because it's green, and they hurl at the sight of anything green. However, I got our Uncle who is 6 foot and 4 inches tall, and very muscular, to drink it in front of them, and mention how 'yummy' it was and how it makes him 'big and strong'. They both then asked me for some. It was a sneaky trick, but the only way of getting them to eat more adventurous greens when they visit my home.
The fruit - pears in particular - aid digestion, and encourage a healthy tract. Plus the fruit makes this juice much sweeter than I'd drink myself, so a perfect drink for little ones who are new to vegetable juices.
Preparation Time: 20 minutes
Makes: 4 servings
Ingredients
2 organic apples
2 pears
2 celery sticks
Half a cucumber
3 rainbow chard leaves
Method
Chop and wash all of the ingredients.
Process the pulp which initially comes out, back through the jucer, to get more from your juice.
Pour and drink immediately.
This is a very green drink, but I assure you, the fruit in the recipe makes it sweet and delicious. If my niece and nephew are happy to drink it, your kids will definitely slurp it down, especially if they see Mommy and Daddy (or their strong Uncle), necking a glass with a smile.
