Fresh watermelon juice is a delight for kids of all ages. Toddlers or teens, they all love it - as do adults. It's a hydrating, naturally sweet, healthy alternative to cool, but sugary beverages which kids reach for during the summer.
It's an absolute doddle to whip this up. Just make sure you have a whole watermelon to hand because once you've made one batch, you'll want to do it again and again.
Preparation Time: 2 minutes
Makes: 2 litres
Ingredients
1 large watermelon
Method
Half, quarter and chop the melon into chunks.
If you can't bear to juice it all, keep a few chunks aside for eating.
Transfer the watermelon chunks to a blender and blitz until smooth.
Pour the juice into a suspended gauze, with a bowl underneath (where the juice will drip into, immediately).
Allow the juice to pass through the gauze for about 5 minutes. You'll have smooth, fresh juice.
Pour into glasses and drink immediately.
If you're wondering what to do with the remaining pulp, I like to add it to smoothies, or eat alone. The juice stores well for up to three days too.
