When you feel the need to drum up a little enthusiasm in the kitchen, why not try this edible mandala? Children just love creating designs with food and then eating them. Cut up a wide and colorful selection of your family's favorite fruit and vegetables and just let them get creative. You'll be surprised at the amazing art works that come from carefully arranging a few bits of food on a plate.
Cut a selection of favorite fruit and veg
Next time you're in the fruit shop, let the children choose some colorful fresh fruit and vegetables to make into edible mandalas. I have listed a few ideas to get you started in the ingredients sections, but of course, you can use any fruit and vegetables that are readily available to you.
Basic carrot mandala
Wash and chop their fruit and/or vegetable selection and present them at the dining table or kitchen bench.
Basic strawberry mandala
Take a large dinner plate as the "canvas" and make your edible mandalas as elaborate or as simple as you wish (alternatively, you could make funny faces or other interesting shapes) - or perhaps it needs a delicious dip to be served along side?
Take pictures to show the children their wonderful creations, then enjoy your edible feast together. Perhaps, this might be a fun edible game at your next birthday party?
