During the cooler seasons like Autumn and Winter it is imperative that you keep warm throughout. Wrapping up in layers, however, isn't always enough to keep away the dreaded cold and protect you from the flu.
With kids mingling with other kids at school, play groups, and football, or dance class, it can be easy for them to pick up Autumn and Winter nasties. So, to help protect them from the inside out here's a cold and flu-busting juice, which will truly boost their immune system, and give them a fighting chance - it tastes good too.
Preparation Time: 5 minutes
Makes: 2 250ml glasses
Ingredients
1 red pepper
1 yellow pepper
2 apples
3 sticks of kale
3cm chunk of ginger
half a pack of grapes
1 lemon
1 scotch bonnet pepper
1 tbsp of cayenne pepper
gotu kola tincture
Method
Wash all of the fruit and vegetables and chop into juicer-fitting chunks.
Process through a juicer.
Pour into glasses and stir in the cayenne pepper. It might seem extreme, but cayenne is naturally high in antiseptic properties, so it's worth it.
Add the
gotu kola - if you can get your hands on this stuff (available online, and at all health food stores), it truly boosts the immune system, and is somewhat of a booster for the whole body.
Combine with a final stir, and drink.
My niece was initially wary of this drink because of it's swamp-like colour, but surprisingly, she enjoyed it. I couldn't recommend this higher as a fast and natural way to protect your kids against the cold and flu.
