Classic Drumsticks with Homemade chips

If your kids love chicken, you can't beat drumsticks roasted in the oven with a side of home made chips and salad.

Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 1.5 hours (depending on how many drumsticks)
Makes: 8 servings

The star appliance of this recipe is the chip machine. You can pretty much put any vegetable in it and it will give you a nicely cooked, crispy chip that is low in fat because it does not require much oil. The chip machine cooks everything evenly and takes less than an hour to cook your food.

Drumsticks have always been an easy meal to prepare. If you don't want to cook a whole chicken, its so easy to just put your drumsticks on a baking tray and bake them with a drizzling of olive oil, salt and some herbs. They take less time to cook compared to a whole chicken and come out delicious and crispy every time.


10 chicken drumsticks
2 cloves of garlic (crushed)
Rosemary to taste
Extra virgin olive oil
Salt and Pepper

For the chips:

8 large washed potatoes (with skin on)
Salt and Pepper
Extra virgin olive oil for cooking


Lay your drumsticks out on an oven baking dish.

Sprinkle with salt and pepper.

Crush some garlic over the top to coat the drumsticks.

Pour a nice amount of extra virgin olive oil over them.

Bake in the oven for 1.5 hours on 200 degrees Celsius, or until lightly golden (with juices in the middle running clear).

For the chips:

I use a chip machine which doesn't require much oil, approximately 1 to 2 tablespoons. The chips come out perfect every time. If you don't have a chip machine, try baking them in the oven with a little bit of oil on a baking tray.

Cut the potatoes into thin chips.

Place in the chip maker and sprinkle with extra virgin olive oil and salt.

Set the chip maker to 45-50 minutes depending on your desired crispiness.

Serve up alongside chicken drumsticks and a side of salad and your favourite sauce.
