Choco-coconut slice

This is easily one of the most frequently used recipes in my household, because as well as being brilliantly simple and hassle-free to make, the end result is delicious! It's incredibly easy for young kids to follow, though you may have to keep an eye on them once you've finished - these slices have a habit of luring weak willed individuals back to the tin at just about any hour of the day (and night). Incredibly moreish and indulgent and most 'mere mortals' struggle to resist!

Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 15-20 minutes
Makes: 20-24 servings

250g soft margarine
185g soft brown sugar
2 tbsp golden syrup
250g self raising flour (wholemeal or white)
2 tbsp cocoa
90g dessicated coconut

Set the oven at 180C (160C for fan-forced).
Place the butter, sugar and syrup in a bowl.

Melt it by either tipping contents into a saucepan or simply microwaving the bowl.

Put the flour and cocoa into a separate mixing bowl.

Stir in the coconut.

Stir in the melted mixture.
Line a slice baking tin with greaseproof/baking paper - Don't forget this step, otherwise cleaning up will be a nightmare!
Spread mixture into the slice baking tin and put into the oven.
Cook for 15-20 mins, or until visibly cooked.
Take out of oven and stand tin on a wire cooling rack.
Wait until firm to touch, then cut into slices of desired size.
Remove from tin when cool.
