Cheese, Garlic, Herb Pull-Apart
Packed with garlic, herbs and cheese within its delicious doughy layers, this pull apart is set to be a scrumptious lunch box classic!

2 cups self-raising flour
1 cup milk
1 tablespoon of crushed garlic
1/3 cup basil pesto
1 tablespoon of dried mixed herbs
3/4 cup grated cheese
Preheat the oven to 200 degrees C and line a baking tray.
Chop the butter and add it to the flour in a mixing bowl. Use your fingertips to rub these together into course breadcrumbs.
Add the milk, then use a knife to fold the milk into the flour mixture.
Lift the dough batter onto a lightly floured cutting board and gently knead the dough for about 30 seconds until smooth.
Roll the dough out to about 4 mm thick.
Spread garlic and pesto layers over the dough, leaving a 3cm gap along one of the long edges. This will be used to stick the completed roll together.
Sprinkle herbs over the dough, then sprinkle over a layer of cheese.
Firmly roll the dough from the long edge. Place some extra milk on the filling-less edge to stick the roll together.
Slice the dough roll into 10-12 pieces, each of about 2-3 cm thick.
Arrange the slices on the baking tray so that each touches the next.
Bake for 20 minutes, or until the pastry expands and turns light golden brown.
Remove from the oven and allow to cool. Serve as a whole piece at lunch, or pull apart individual scrolls to pop them into a lunch box.
