THE EGG - a food rich in many nutrients and protein.
This is a delicious breakfast recipe that would be great if you have one or several children - it is not difficult, is quite filling and is especially good if your child does not like eggs as you cannot really taste the egg.
Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 15 minutes
Makes: 2 servings
Ingredients
2 slices bread of your choice
1 small egg
3 tbsp buttermilk (or low fat)
1 - 2 slices cheese
2 rashers short cut bacon
Butter
Syrup (optional)
Method
Heat a pan and cook the bacon until it is brown and crispy, or to your liking.
Heat a frypan and add about a tbsp of butter.
Mix the egg with the buttermilk.
Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture.
When the butter is hot add the slices of bread and brown on one side.
Put the sliced cheese on the cooked side.
Add the cooked bacon rashers.
Put the other slice of bread on top with the uncooked side up.
Cook for a short time and then turn round and cook the uncooked side, adding more butter if needed.
To further entice the children, you could add some maple syrup, or even jam, though I did not -maple syrup and bacon are a lovely combination!
